D'ANGERS GALLERY is showcasing a collection of paintings from a series of "The Empire of Red Bees" created by the artist Mohsen Jamali-Neek, introducing around 12 works.
The story of "The Empire of Red Bees" is the story of the history of human beings' idiotism and the ideological extremism and the delusive hope of people to future of unknown characters. The The Empire of Red Bees is the situation of the human lives in which they prefer to sink in their past rather than stepping out and transforming their potential into a reality, wishing an undetermined future instead of updating their own lives. The The Empire of Red Bees is part of the human lives in which they are frozen in a meaningless stagnation. It is a story the artist started to write from 2011 inspired from the animation he has seen in his childhood. Many of these characters were looking for their missing half, and instead of living the daily life, they got far away from themselves in the turbulent road to find the missing half from which they had no clue and even they had no idea why they are looking after that. The story begins with a bee that can be himself, staying and working in places and experienced so many things that is equal to lives of many of people. Landed in the mystery land of sapients, lived with them, floated into them, accompanied them and ran away from them. And saw many uneasiness, idiotism, superstitions, traditionalism and backwardness. It was a very turbulent and chaotic travel.
The collection showcased in this exhibition are all exact image and emotional reflection of artist from this story. It is assumed that the presentation of these artworks provides a holistic view of this story for the audience.
As written by Dr. Javid Ramezani, curator and director of AvamMag Art Magazine, Jamali-Neek is a painter who pays a lot of attention to social aspects in his artworks. The main trait of his paintings is combination of general Iranian narration with contemporary expressionism of Western art. In correspondence to painting identity of Jamali-Neek, one should adopt that he portrays the popular culture and, in his paintings, regret and seclusion of the oriental man has turned into a latent and complaining audacity. He has emerged rough and aggressive abstraction to the extent of his expressionism and through all the stages, he has mixed the nowadays styles and traditions of paintings in the past. He has created scenes empty of the human beings who have accorded themselves with beauty of superficiality.
Exhibition will be opened to the public from 19 Apr 2019 to 03 May 2019 from 17 to 22 every day (except Saturdays).
