"Painting is poetry that is seen rather than felt, and poetry is painting that is felt rater than seen." are words attributed to Leonardo da Vinci and beautifully describes the aim of our group of artists.
Our brief and title of one of the two exhibitions on at the Barracks building during the Banjo Paterson Poetry Festival is "Poems To Paintings". The other exhibition is our tri annual group exhibition which takes over the building with contemporary expression of local artists.
"Poems To Paintings" will not only depict visually the poet's words but is also an exhibition which will be voted on by the public. Come and see art by local artists interpreting the poetry of Banjo Paterson. The winning artwork will receive the People's Choice prize.
We love being a part of our community, so we're trialling closing a little later on Wednesday 21 so all our wonderful school teachers and other hard working locals can drop in and get a dose of art before heading home.
Colour City Creatives is a local art cooperative situated in the Barracks building of the rail precinct. Our building has 2 galleries, 11 working studios and gift shop all open to the public.
