One large work on show in the Paper Contemporary section is entitled "The Messengers" and is an assembled series of thirty-six etchings depicting the WWII Dickin Medal recipients, essentially winged messengers. The written notices delivered by these war time pigeons were essentially calls of SOS. To echo this sentiment scored across the bottom of the artwork using rouge de cadmium are these alpha letters. The courage and importance of these creatures is honoured in this work where by an almost museum quality is presented to the viewer to cast an eye over each individual etching encased behind glass.
The intaglio printmaking practice of solar plates was used to create each work on show this year all originating from ink drawings and hand pulled by the artist in her Melbourne studios.
