Singer-songwriter Alice Skye is a Wergaia woman and universal little sister who grew up loving Missy Higgins. Her songwriting inspiration came from the majesty of her then hometown in the Grampians, and her stripped- back piano melodies elevate the gentle moodiness of her lyrics on love, loss and life.
Still inspired by her roots, Alice now calls Melbourne home and says "I take great pride in my heritage and to combine both music and my background brings me an unexplainable amount of pride and happiness."
Taking to the stage again following the Falls Festival tour, Alice Skye's songs sparkle with a sensitivity and maturity well beyond her years. Accompanied by the gentle and hauntingly sparse melodies of a piano score, her voice is an alluring combination of hopeful and haunting, and naturally sweet, slow and dreamlike.
Hailed by Triple J as one of the "five new indigenous artists you need to hear" and previous feature artist of the week, Alice Skye is a name set to soar in the Australian music scene as music lovers get to know this young yet mature new music talent. Alice's vocals will soothe audiences for one night only at the Kew Court House.
Once a police station and court house, the Kew Court House is a charming heritage building that has been redeveloped into a thriving contemporary cultural centre. The venue now provides a unique, intimate performance space with extraordinary ambience, where some of Australia's most exciting artists perform.
"Love that stripped back, reverb filled piano and voice. Very raw, really beautiful." - Zan Rowe, Double J
"So delicate in the delivery, so evocative in the lyrical imagery." - Gen Fricker, Triple J
