Applications For Musica Viva Australia’s Strike A Chord 2024 Coaching Program Now Open
Musica Viva Australia is excited to announce applications for Strike A Chord’s esteemed coaching program are now open, ahead of entries for the competition opening in May.
The Strike A Chord Coaching Program offers participants a free private coaching session with a professional chamber musician. The coaching program is open to any ensemble intending to enter the competition.
“The Strike A Chord Coaching Program is such an important part of the overall competition, and we're thrilled to be able to offer this opportunity once again to students from all over Australia, even the most remote corners,” said Wilma Smith, Musica Viva Australia’s Artistic Director of Competitions.
“The chance to work with Musica Viva Australia's incredible network of professional musicians is special and unique and can give students a fresh perspective on how to approach their piece and lift it to the next level before they enter the competition.”
The Strike A Chord competition which opens for entries on 1 May, encourages school students across Australia to form chamber music ensembles between three and eight players in any vocal or instrumental combination, performing music that is ‘classical’ in style.
12 groups, from at least 6 states/territories, will be selected to play live at the Grand Final in Melbourne on 31 August 2024, where more than $60,000 worth of prizes, including cash and professional development, will be awarded.
Applications for the Strike A Chord coaching program close on 22 March and competition entries for Strike A Chord close on 30 May.
Strike A Chord is presented in partnership with Creative Victoria, Flinders Quartet, AMEB, 3MBS and AUSTA.
