One of the Gallery's most popular exhibitions, the 36th annual ARTEXPRESS brings the work of the next generation of artists and creative thinkers into the public arena; presenting a snapshot of the passions, curiosities and concerns occupying the minds of young Australians.
This year's exhibition at the Gallery features 48 artworks selected from 8552 student works submitted for the 2019 HSC and includes works by students from government and non-government schools from across metropolitan and regional NSW. One of the Gallery's most popular exhibitions, the 36th annual ARTEXPRESS brings the work of the next generation of artists and creative thinkers into the public arena; presenting a snapshot of the passions, curiosities and concerns occupying the minds of young Australians.
The exceptional bodies of work represent a broad range of approaches across 12 art forms, including painting, drawing, photo-media, sculpture, ceramics, time-based works, designed object, documented form, printmaking, textiles and fibre and graphic design. One of the Gallery's most popular exhibitions, the 36th annual ARTEXPRESS brings the work of the next generation of artists and creative thinkers into the public arena; presenting a snapshot of the passions, curiosities and concerns occupying the minds of young Australians.
ARTEXPRESS 2020 represents the independent voice of young people and reveals complex investigations of a range of issues that are important to them. One of the Gallery's most popular exhibitions, the 36th annual ARTEXPRESS brings the work of the next generation of artists and creative thinkers into the public arena; presenting a snapshot of the passions, curiosities and concerns occupying the minds of young Australians.
A selection of photographs of artists at work, along with sketchbooks and other materials drawn from Australia's largest artist archive, the Gallery's National Art Archive, will be on display alongside the student works and will feature range of objects, documenting the practice of artists including Grace Crowley, Anne Dangar, Janet Dawson, Mona Hessing, Robert Klippel, Janet Lawrence, Lloyd Rees, Judy Watson and Fred Williams.
