Bankstown Arts Centre is proud to present NEXUS, a one-day youth arts Festival of immersive cultural performances and workshops, showcasing the energy and vitality of over 100 young creatives from Bankstown and beyond on Saturday 9th April.
NEXUS is an eclectic mix of installations, exhibitions, music, and performances, offering audiences a smorgasbord of interactive encounters across one big day.
Entering the Gallery space, audiences can view Edition Three an exhibition curated by More Than Reproduction, showcasing the diversity of expanded printmaking, and featuring the work of emerging woman artists from across Sydney.
Audiences will enjoy the global beats of emerging DJs and revel in a range of music and performances in the Courtyard. Bankstown Poetry Slam (the largest regular spoken-word event in the country) will regale with spoken word performances, Hybrid Formz will astound with their high energy moves. Bankstown Arts Centre dance company in residence, BINDI BOSSES will light up the night with their uniquely feisty blend of traditional Indian classical, folk, and street dances from around the world.
Inside the Theatre, audiences can engage with Juxta Jam, a club-style happening featuring special guest DJs/VJs – Marlene Cummins, Nardi Simpson and Isaiah Kennedy – who will mix live sound and images curated by 46 local artists to create new narratives.
Guests can get involved and flex their creativity muscle with workshops including printmaking, dance, poetry, hula hooping, badge making and more.
