Weiguang Li's oil painting technique is based on combining traditional Chinese landscape painting with Western techniques. This fusion of techniques has resulted in a unique style that is appreciated by the people of his own country China, whilst also being greatly admired by an international audience. His work references the ancient art of Chinese ink landscape painting, Impressionism, antique photographs, his own memories and photorealism.
Jim Supangkat, Indonesian sculptor, art critic and curator said "Li Weiguang is an artist who introduced realism into contemporary art. The life depicted in his works is not a direct record of reality. You can say that he is a photo realist because he refers to photographs in his creation. "
Adelaide Festival Centre is South Australia's principal performing arts venue and presenter of theatre, dance, music and exhibitions. It is a leading Asia Pacific cultural centre.
