A seasoned festival performer, stand-up comedian CJ Delling joyfully returns to the 2016 Melbourne International Comedy Festival from the 23rd of March to the 3rd of April, serving up a show packed with tried and true audience favourites; Funny Bits.
Previously performing at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival to sell-out audiences and critical acclaim, as well as the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Sydney Fringe Comedy Festival, CJ's comedy stylings offer audiences a left of the middle evening from the fresh perspective of someone newly navigating the thong-clad Australian terrain. English as a second language is challenging at the best of times, but throw quintessential Australian lingo into the mix, and it's a whole new game...
Arriving in Australia from Germany over 10 years ago, stand-up comedy is a far cry from working as a lifesaver for the Bondi Surf Bathers' Life Saving Club - one of CJ's first occupations when she hit our sunny shores. From beach patrol to crowd control, her migration to the stage also sees her regularly performing shows in both English and German for Australian audiences.
"Walking away from up a high-paying corporate job in the finance world to have more time writing and performing comedy on the radio and in bars, pubs and clubs seemed logical. Now I'm working more, keeping erratic hours, and am earning hardly any money at all. It's all about living the dream.", explains Delling.
A comedian and writer for TV and radio, CJ's unconventional comedy dissects the everyday with charm, intelligence, and wit. Running at The Bull and The Bear Tavern on Flinders Lane, the season of CJ Delling - Funny Bits will also include an AUSLAN Interpreted show on the 25th of March, and a German language show on the 27th.
"Ms Delling's unassuming, often self-deprecating, sometimes disarming, always charming delivery is refreshing and funny." - Sydney Arts Guide
