Titled Otherworldly and billed as “a night of a hundred million more colour possibilities” the debut of the spectacular new space by the self-styled ‘artist, muse and mage’ is a very colourful addition to arty Woollahra’s premier street.
Host at the opening is Glen Marie Frost and guest speaker is visual perception researcher Prof Branka Spehar of the University of NSW. Well known in Sydney circles as the Voice of the Sydney Olympics and blue chip Sydney based companies, Glen Marie is also known as a communications strategist for many blue chip companies as well as a high profile fundraiser and advocate for homeless women (the Equanimity Project) and against ageism in the workforce.
After 30 years operating her US galleries, tetrachromat Concetta is coming home… and will unveil a collection of original work focussed upon the stars, planets and all things celestial – produced with her genetically rare ‘super vision’ gift, tetrachromacy.
She promises EMPYREAN will enchant with original, ‘otherworldly’ masterpieces manifested with her ability to perceive up to 100 million more colours than can be seen with regular vision.
Blessed with the rare gift of extraordinary colour perception, the ‘Color Queen’, Concetta will share 40 of her oil-painted ‘windows’ imbued with the true colours hidden from ordinary view. Opening simultaneously is Concetta Antico Fine Art Salon and working studio at 500 Glenmore Road, Paddington, where she will also give private Oil Painting instruction and hold special events.
Where most people see a night sky devoid of colour, Concetta Antico sees a dazzling array. She says she conjures mostly paint… and a little magic! “I hope to share the true beauty of the world as seen through my eyes - so others may see it too! As Matisse said: ‘With colour one obtains an energy that seems to stem from witchcraft.’”
