Pianist and Composer Danilo Rojas will take you on a journey around South America with his unique Bolivian music improvisation and jazz fused with a mix of traditional and current South American rhythms and melodies including original compositions from his recently launched DVD "Música Popular Boliviana" produced by Bolivian National TV.
"The Danilo Rojas Trio" repertoire travels through the diverse and colourful rhythms of South America visiting Bossa Nova and Samba (Brazil), Zamba, Milonga (Argentina), Candombe (Uruguay) the Cueca, Chacarera, Festejo, Landó, Huayño, and rhythms of indigenous music from Bolivia, Columbia, Peru and Chile.
Danilo's music is harmonically complex and his presentations create intense emotional dynamics with rapidly changing rhythms and a strong musical and visual connection with his musicians. The music he proposes comes from a strong feeling of identity.
From his childhood he began playing music with his father Gilberto Rojas the most celebrated Bolivian composer of the 20th Century and listened to his father's friends Atahuallpa Yupanqui (Argentina), Chabuca Granda (Peru) and Violeta Parra (Chile) along with Tom Jobim (Brazil).
Danilo Rojas is one of Bolivia's most respected and awarded musicians. He is one of the greatest contributors to the innovation of Bolivian Jazz and Music Improvisation Fusion and consequently has become its international ambassador currently performing a style of music not yet heard in Australia.
Let this night of jazz, folk and improvisation connect you to the "Real Music of South America"
