In a park, Jeremy hunches over a walking stick in pain, while Emilie gleefully rests atop his back, with one foot in the air. They are wearing matching stripey red suits and flat hats.
Disabled comedy duo Emilie Biggar and Jeremy Moses are bringing a new kind of madcap vaudevillian variety to the coveted Festival Hub: Trades Hall in October as part of this year’s Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Drawing on their naturally frequent miscommunications and their often-hilarious lived experience, Emilie and Jeremy promise a unique, genuine, side-splitting hour of sketches, set pieces and silliness.
Advocates for people with disability, Emilie and Jeremy will compliment each other’s perceived shortcomings to create a joyous celebration of diversity, equality and accessibility in the performing arts.
Emilie - born deaf/hard of hearing, and Jeremy - born legally blind, are rising stars of the Melbourne comedy scene, ushering in a new era for diverse comedians to thrive on stage rather than be relegated to a punchline. Joining forces, they hope to shine a positive light on their disabilities, their sensory differences and their shared magic.
“Who would have thought a deaf woman and a blind man would be the perfect pair? Emilie is mad not to accept my wedding proposal!” - Jeremy Moses.
“I still have my sense of smell!” - Emilie Biggar.
