A diary of an Emirati artist Maisoon Al Saleh whom disconnects from her usual environment by exploring China for her first time. Her art dives, sometimes literally, below the obvious meaning residing on the surface of stories and accounts of the past. Through these strategies Al Saleh bring viewers into a discussion about cultural, history, memory and their representation in mainstream media.
The creation of her 30 artworks was based on 30 days around China, as each work represented one of the days during her stay. She had traveled to Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an where her diary got exposed in Shangyuan Art Museum, Beijing, China as a solo exhibition titled "DXB to PEK".
Born in 1988, Emirati artist Maisoon Al Saleh is active in her practice both in Dubai and internationally. She graduated from Zayed University in 2010, with a degree in Interior Design. She has also been known as the first female underwater painter in the GCC.
