It is a pleasure to announce that fortyfivedownstairs will once again be filled with the work of emerging artists for a multi-disciplinary exhibition that explores our engagement with the natural and built environment, interrogates familial relationships through sensory experiences, and challenges our very sense of identity.
Guest judge Dr Vincent Alessi of La Trobe University and Connors Connors Gallery will award the artists whose submissions most closely align with the award criteria of originality, technical proficiency, and creative vision.
As well, the People's Choice Award gives the audience a chance to have their say. For those who can't visit in person, an online catalogue and our social media channels will be available with information and images.
On Saturday 26 June artist Jo Carroll will join us in the gallery to share her knowledge in an enlightening talk on the business of being an artist and the transition from hobbyist to professional practice.
The Emerging Artist Award 2021 is supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants, Future Leaders and The Cuming Bequest.
