Tim Bruniges is a Sydney based visual artist and musician. Working across a range of media, including installation, sound and video, his practice centres on exploring the physicality and materiality of sound. Often taking the form of site-specific installations, the works attempt to create situations that allow for a disruption of temporal experience.
Bruniges holds a MFA from UNSW Art & Design and a BA (Mus) with distinction from the University of Western Sydney and is a current PhD candidate at UNSW Art & Design. He was recently awarded the Greene St Studio artist residency in New York, was a finalist in the 2014 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship, John Fries Award 2014/2015 and his work has been written about in Hyperallergic, New York Magazine and The New York Times. Bruniges has exhibited works in Australia, the USA, Germany, France, Iceland and Russia.
Tim Bruniges and Michaela Davies will be performing an improvisation for electrical muscle stimulation, cello and feedback on Wednesday 16 March at the gallery from 6pm for Art Month's Art at Night | Chippendale & Redfern.
