Dans le cadre de la FIAC, le Conseil économique, social et environnemental (CESE), qui siège au Palais d"Iéna, accueille pour dix jours une exposition de l"artiste brésilien Artur Lescher, qui prend ainsi la suite d"Antony Gormley, Francesco Vezzoli ou encore Carlos Cruz-Diez l"an dernier. Pour le CESE et l"ensemble des organisations qui y siègent, ouvrir ses portes à l"art permet de rappeler combien la culture doit occuper une place privilégiée dans notre société.
Montrées pour la première fois en France, les œuvres d"Artur Lescher proviennent de collections privées et publiques brésiliennes ou sont réalisées in-situ pour l"événement. Présentées tout au long des 1.500 m2 du Palais d"Iéna, les sculptures proposent un dialogue inédit avec le classicisme moderne des espaces monumentaux conçus par l"architecte Auguste Perret dans les années 30. L"exposition bénéficie du parrainage du ministère de la Culture et du soutien de la Galeria Nara Roesler.
Après Antony Gormley, Francesco Vezzoli ou encore Carlos Cruz-Diez, c"est à Artur Lescher de déployer ses œuvres au sein de l"architecture du Palais d"Iéna, où siège le CESE.
L"artiste, né en 1962 à Sao Paulo où il vit et travaille, bénéficie d"une reconnaissance considérable outre-Atlantique depuis les années 1980, notamment pour son inscription dans la lignée du néo-concrétisme, ce courant majeur de l"art abstrait, nourri par le cognitivisme et la phénoménologie de la perception. Cette exposition propose un regard transversal sur l"œuvre à l"aune de sa résonance avec certaines caractéristiques de l"édifice-clef d"Auguste Perret, inauguré en 1939 et aujourd"hui siège du Conseil économique, social et environnemental (CESE). À ce titre, les sculptures et installations présentées, qui proviennent de collections brésiliennes ou qui ont été réalisés spécifiquement, dialoguent avec le classicisme moderne des espaces monumentaux conçus par l"architecte, de la puissante colonnade de la salle hypostyle à l"hémicycle, en passant par l"escalier. Ces volumes, pourtant internes au bâtiment, se révèlent, au gré de l"expérience esthétique des œuvres d"Artur Lescher, comme des lieux intrinsèquement ouverts, articulés et dynamique. Renouant de cette façon avec le modèle initial du portique antique et avec sa dimension démocratique, l"artiste fait s"ouvrir le lieu, symboliquement, vers l"extérieur mais aussi, sur un registre plus intime, vers la mécanique perceptive du spectateur.
