Georgia State Line announce new single Dry My Tears' + Out On The Weekend appearance + launch show

Published by: This Much Talent | 3-Aug-2018
Americana lovers Georgia State Line have been exporting their own brand of Melburnian country since their inception in 2016.
Fronted by Bendigo-born songstress Georgia Delves, the group blend vintage and contemporary sounds to create songs that feel warmed and lived-in, with Delves writing to incite an ageless feeling and capture the bittersweet balancing act between growing up and staying young. Following from the success of their debut EP Heaven Knows, the group are excited to announce the release of their poignant new track Dry My Tears' out Friday 3 August with a headline show on Sunday 26 August at The Old Bar in Melbourne and Out On The Weekend Festival performance to follow.

A slow-winding journey traversing regional vs. metropolitan life, Dry My Tears' is a tender moment for Delves, reflecting on the distances between where she's been, where she stands and where she's heading. Driven by the lush drone of the pedal steel courtesy of bandmate and multi-instrumentalist Tom Brooks, Dry My Tears' carries its weight of both old-time traditions and alt-country tropes in a delicate yet punchy performance that could easily mistake them for Tennessee expats. Mastered by Adam Dempsey and engineered by Myles Mumford at Rollingstock Recording Rooms the song is peppered with gritty vocal nuisances between the deeply rich tones that cement Delves' seasoned song writing and Georgia State Line's distinct country niche amongst leaders of the local scene.

"Dry My Tears was written after taking a trip back to my hometown and gaining perspective after a boozy night. It's about navigating through old friends and passed times. For me, it's a song celebrating an ending and feeling grateful for times changing. I don't think we stop and give ourselves enough credit for constantly moving forward and adapting. We should celebrate our efforts more." - Georgia Delves

Georgia State Line has performed at the National Folk Festival (Canberra, AUS), Dashville Skyline Festival (Belford, AUS) and alongside international country blues artist Eilen Jewell, and is fresh off the back of a three-month duo tour across Australia with bandmate and fellow musician Patrick Wilson. Georgia is now thrilled to get the gang back together for some upcoming full band shows and Festival performances come August. Heading to The Old Bar for a free Sunday gig next month, Georgia State Line will launch Dry My Tears' before gracing Out On The Weekend Festival in October with country legends Henry Wagons, Tony Joe White, Courtney Marie Andrews, Margo Price and more. Don't sleep on tickets.
