HAIRSPRAY "“ THE BIG FAT ARENA SPECTACULAR looks set to break world records when it bounces into the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in April 2016. HAIRSPRAY "“ THE BIG FAT ARENA PRODUCTION stars theatre legend Simon Burke as Edna Turnblad, singer and actress Christine Anu as Motormouth Maybelle, mesmerising dance man Wayne Scott Kermond as Wilbur Turnblad, House Husbands' Tim Campbell as Corny Collins, Amanda Muggleton as Velma Von Tussle, Barry Conrad as Seaweed, Dan Venz as Link Larkin and Lauren McKenna as Tracy Turnblad alongside a core cast of 30 professional performers and a large amateur ensemble of over 900 young performers ranging from ages 9- 21 years of age.
In 2014, Harvest Rain produced a major arena production of CATS starring Marina Prior and featuring over 800 performers from across South East Queensland. The production was seen by over 13,000 people and set a world record for the largest production of CATS ever staged in the southern hemisphere.
With explosive choreography and stunning sets and costumes, HAIRSPRAY will be an unforgettable journey back to the 60's. It's 1962, and pleasantly plump Baltimore teen Tracy Turnblad has only one desire - to be on television dancing on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star, but she must use her newfound power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin and integrate a television network - all without denting her 'do!
