The Head On Photo Festival returns to Sydney for a stellar summer showcase, from 9 November to 1 December.
Head On Photo Festival is Australia’s leading photography platform, bringing together hundreds of world-class photographers at some of Sydney’s most iconic locations. Over our 20-year history, they have exhibited 5,000 photographers, awarded $800,000 in cash and prizes, and built a groundswell of community support that brings 500,000 attendees every year to our events.
First starting in 2004 with the Head On Photo Awards, Head On has committed to sharing diverse ideas and building Australia’s reputation as an international cultural powerhouse, broadening the talent base that comes to Sydney and showcasing museum quality photography without the museum price tag.
The Head On Photo Festival 2024, their fifteenth instalment, offers a diverse and compelling program for audiences to enjoy. The Festival program this year includes over 90 exhibitions and over 600 artists showing across iconic Sydney locations in Bondi and Paddington.
Dive into everything photography has to offer, from creative and visually artistic displays to evocative documentations of disaster and everything in between. Be moved, wowed, and touched by the power of photography across this exemplary festival.
Alongside the photography on display, there will be artist talks, free events, workshops, and life-giving discussions framed by the evocative visual narratives of the installations.
Get an early glimpse of the work at the Head On Launch party on 8 November. Secure your ticket to Australia's hottest event in photography, where you can experience the power of a global arts platform firsthand. You'll meet the exciting faces behind the world's most acclaimed photographic works. There will be delicious food, vibrant music, mesmerising displays as they kick off the Festival and announce the $80,000 prize pool.
