In between travelling and playing shows Millington spent his spare time writing and recording 'Being' and the rest of the EP, with Joe Hammond (Hudson and Troop, Jen Cloher, Hello Satellites, Manny Fox) at Pots and Pans Studio, Melbourne and Aria award winning producer Pip Norman (TZU, Urthboy, Dan Sultan) at Meliodora Studios Melbourne.
'Being' is a Pop anthem, a landscape of acoustic instruments, synths and a symphony of voices depicting how Millington delivered his daughter into this world, the feeling of euphoria he experienced thereafter with an underlying message of hope for the future. With a pronounced stammer from an early age, a young Tom Millington developed his language through rhythm thus creating a unique relationship with music. Playing in bands from the age of 11 from Rock, Funk, Jazz, Hip hop, Soul and Pop bands, touring and playing many UK venues and festivals, Millington moved to Australia in 2009 to embark on his next chapter as a solo artist refining his voice, guitar and piano skills with the aim of captivating each audience. Since settling in Melbourne Millington has supported the likes of the Pierce Brothers, Mat McHugh (Beautiful Girls), Hayden Calnin and Tash Sultana, as well as annual tours back in France and the UK.
"Music gave me the opportunity to communicate and express myself deeply, I have been speaking and thinking in rhythms for as long as I can remember".
Millington's words are poetry and vibrantly rhythmical whilst the music is fascinating and charms you with its deep soulful pop textures. It grooves and gets your body and soul moving, with a positive frequency, a pulse that takes you willingly along for the ride.
