Introducing the delightful sounds of folk lasses Deer Prudence
Introducing Melbourne duo Mariah McCarthy and Georgia Delves, the guitar playing, Mariah McCarthy and Georgia Delves, the guitar playing,violin-toting folk lasses, who elegantly weave harmonies of yesteryear. The pair is pleased to announce their new single 'Sam's Lament' due for release independently November 19, in conjunction with a launch show on the same night at Some Velvet Morning. Think Joni Mitchell with a dash of June Carter; mixed with their own style of folk Americana and pop-esque writing and you have the delightful sounds of Deer Prudence.
"Deer Prudence feature ethereal vocal harmonies combined with authentic songwriting reminiscent of a bygone era. Imagine the love child of Nick Drake and First Aid Kit with a dose of Celtic influences and you have an inkling of what Deer Prudence sounds like."

"For us, Sam's Lament is a piece that signifies our last 5 years- writing, recording, finishing a music degree and leaving our hometowns- an epic ode to the good that's happened and to some of the bad. We drew parallels between someone travelling a great distance; a mystical tale- and landed on Frodo and Sam's trek to Mount Doom bearing the weight of the Ring of Power"¦Life is a bit like that."
Growing up in regional Victoria in Heathcote and Bendigo, the girls combined forces in their high school music class at the tender age of 16 and have been performing together ever since. Since relocating to Melbourne, the pair have gained a Bachelor of Arts (Music) degree, and have played regularly and supported the likes of Krista Polvere and Gena Rose Bruce, graced the stages of Brunswick Music Festival, Wintermoon Festival (QLD), and most recently were the recipients of Majors Creek Festival - Ros Hales Award for Young Women in Music.
Expect something wondrous when Deer Prudence performs live at Some Velvet Morning on Saturday November 19 with support from Forever Son.
