Jane Burns 'Listed'
MARS Gallery proudly presents Jane Burns' new body of work 'Listed': harrowing imagery of endangered Australian species in a state of disappearance as a part of ART + CLIMATE = CHANGE 2019.
MARS Gallery are proud to join Climarte 'Art + Climate = Change' 2019, with new exhibitions from four contemporary Australian artists that each contemplate the theme of climate change.
The group exhibition opens Thursday 18 April 5-7pm, and will span across all four levels of the gallery, including the rooftop sculpture garden which offers expansive views of Windsor.
Jane Burns' Listed presents her new works which hang together literally by a thread. The work takes its form in fabric, as deconstructed images of critically endangered animals native to southeast Australia. The work portrays the animal subjects in a state of disappearance, the weft threads of linen pulled away to leave a trace figure on the remaining warp threads.
MARS will be one of over thirty leading Victorian galleries to join Climarte 2019, a socially engaged festival of curated exhibitions and events that unite art and activism.
