fortyfivedownstairs is pleased to present elemental: a collection of works by Joan Blond, Aliki K, Bev Plowman and Jo Carroll.

Abstract expressionist Joan Blond paints both intuitively and from her everyday experiences and memories of nature. Blond's work is heavily influenced by her rural surroundings and her connection to the land's positive energy. I find great fulfilment in delivering work that brings about emotions of happiness and excitement to those whom own and view my art. My work is a journey, ever evolving with continuous growth. I am blessed to share my stories and to evoke emotion through each and every piece.

Free flowing, spontaneous and driven by colour, Aliki K draws inspiration from her love of fashion, interior design and everyday beauty. My artworks are inspired by the feel of Bohemian Summer, freedom and frivolity the flowers & leaves that emerge, soft and vibrant colours combined together to create a sense of beauty.

In this exhibition Bev Plowman is looking at mood, light, and the colour spectrum of nature. Use your mind to puzzle these soft, mosaic like images into something recognisable, Relax and unwind in the garden, by the pond, near the sea. I enjoy creating artworks that are calm and relaxing. Hybrid landscapes' that feel familiar, as if you've seen them before. Plowman has also created many mosaic murals around Melbourne and won National and State awards for her work.

Jo Carroll's abstract, moody art captures the imagination of the viewer, with serene colourscapes that invite you to pause, reflect, re-balance and energise. Carroll works by allowing herself to be guided by her own intuitive energy. Clouds, nebulae, water and the glow of light being common themes in her work. I love creating atmospheric and ethereal images, taking the viewer into the painting to experience something transcendent and mystical “ often beyond the world as we see it.
