Tony Day colludes with charcoal, paint, ink and paper to make visual memories from his own experiences. The remembrance of growing up as one of 11 children, of being the second boy amongst nine girls, and the second youngest child, forms the basis of Day's current practice and the focus of this exhibition. Day has taken the visual realisation of childhood experiences on a creative journey and woven them like a rhizome across the paper upon which he draws.
As the recipient of the 2015 Julie Miller Markoff Visual Arts Award, this is Tony Day's second solo show in two years and marks the beginning of his transition from the institution to the larger horizons of the Art world.
