Two generations, Mother and daughter come together to reflect on the Australian landscape. Both artists have a connection to nature exploring the diversity of the Australian bush within their individual work. They draw on their observation of pattern within the landscape and their subsequent work is a reflection of these designs.
Louise has produced a series of oil paintings on canvas and board focusing on the changing colours and patterning of trees. Her compositions are semi abstract embracing large blocks of colour. Working with a number of pieces at the same time as well as using a palette knife has been a liberating experience allowing her to focus more on texture and light sources.
Lucky to have travelled extensively, Louise draws on her many travel experiences. Imagination and memory become an important part of her work. Like her mother, Louise has embraced her arts practice later in life. She has exhibited regularly over that last 10 years and is an active member of the Alphington Open Studio Program.
A dedicated and passionate artist, Maadi Einfeld age 92, has been making the trek across Sydney to use the printmaking facilities at Willoughby Workshop Art Centre for 40 years. For this exhibition Maadi has printed on fine Japanese paper, using gold leaf, fibre and has reworked old prints and incorporated collage to create works that are entirely new and different. There is a strong sense of design and balance in these works. With 20 solo exhibitions to her credit Maadi has managed to combine her many years of experience with a fresh "re-generation" of her work.
Having previously exhibited independently, Louise instigated this show as the first joint venture for both artists. Maadi is very proud and delighted to be having an exhibition with her daughter.
Opening Drinks: Saturday 4 June, 2 to 4pm.
