Limelight, in collaboration with Willoughby City Council, provides an education program for upcoming 3D projection mapping artists, with their work showcased as part of Vivid Sydney at Chatswood.
Haemish is studying the Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production) at TAFE NSW with a focus on electronic music. Australia is one of the major growth sectors of the global electronic music scene with figures showing growth of 12% in 2018-2019. The IMS Business Report estimated the value of the EDM scene at AU$10.6 billion during that same period .
Animator Wendy Zhang is one of the six domestic and international artists selected as part of Limelight Academy and chose Haemish to compose the music for her 3D project Bloom.
Wendy said, The TAFE NSW students who applied to be my collaborative sound designer sent high quality demos. I selected Haemish, as he put forward an exciting creative direction in the sound design for my visuals and ideas.
Just as the shifting of the seasons transforms the Sydney landscape, my piece, Bloom will transform the architecture of The Concourse, Chatswood with evolving patterns of colours and shapes.
Haemish, whose ultimate goal is to become a holistic sound therapist, said he was overwhelmed to have the opportunity to create music for such a large-scale event that will be viewed by so many people.
When we were offered the chance to submit a demo track to the Limelight artists I got to work straight away and presented two submissions the very next day. I was so surprised and pleased to learn that Wendy had chosen me for her project, Haemish said.
This means I get to showcase my music in a real industry event and to work alongside other creatives to deliver an immersive experience for the public.
TAFE NSW Electronic Music Teacher, and star in his own right as screen composer and recording artist Endorphin, Eric Chapus said that TAFE NSW is renowned for its high-quality training producing industry-ready graduates.
The Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Sound Production) is the highest-level music qualification at TAFE NSW. The Limelight project is just one of the many ways we provide our students with opportunities to utilise and test their skills by participating in a real-world project.
Australia is the sixth largest music market in the world. Enrolling in a music qualification at TAFE NSW will keep music traditions alive and create new, fresh sounds for generations to come.
