Sydney-based emerging artist Lisa Carrett is excited to be selected as a finalist for the upcoming Waverley Art Prize, 2022. Judges, Daniel Mudie Cunningham and Michelle Cawthorn had the unenviable task of selecting 60 Finalists out of 786 entries. Winners will be announced on Friday 23 September at the opening of the prize and relaunch of the Bondi Pavilion Gallery. The Waverley Art Prize is proudly sponsored by Waverley Council.
The Waverley Art Prize has been running since 1986 as a painting and drawing prize. This year the Waverely Art Prize is moving to the Bondi Pavilion Gallery and is the featured inaugural exhibition that will open the new gallery space. The Waverley Art Prize is a community prize aimed for early to mid-career artists. The Open Prize and Mayor's Prize winning works are acquired in the Waverley Council Collection and this year marks the introduction of the new Environment Art Prize section. The funds raised through the art prize support Waverley Woollahra Art School and help them sustain their role as the longest running artist run initiative in Waverley. This year is the 36th anniversary of the Waverley Art Prize.
