Midwife moves from delivering babies to delivering laughs!
Sarah Stewart is having a “Midwife Crisis”!
Midwife and comedian Sarah Stewart, 62, is debuting her first solo stand up comedy show at the Adelaide Fringe Festival where she is reflecting on life on the Labour Ward, sorting out her bucket list and complaining about the difficulties of choosing a coffin that fits! It will be a miracle if she remembers her jokes because she usually forgets where she has put her dementia pills!
Stewart said “My show is what you get after 40 years of being married, a mother and working as a midwife. In other words, I’m knackered and planning my funeral in a Google Doc!”

Stewart came to comedy in 2020 and become one of the comedy quartet “The Women’s Room” which was nominated ‘Best of Comedy’ at the 2023 Sydney Fringe Festival. Stewart is very excited about going solo and already has had sold out shows in Canberra and the North Australian Festival of Arts in October 2024.
Stewart commented “Approximately only 20% of comedians are female and even less are my age. So, I’m flying the flag for women over the age of 60 and showing there’s more to life than baby-sitting grandchildren.”
