A special edition of the 2017 Adelaide Fringe guide that highlights an abundance of daytime events and shows is now available to help people navigate the month-long festival.

Fringe by Day is a matinee guide highlighting almost 450 exciting shows that will be staged during the day "“ perfect for families, the young at heart and tourists.

The guide "“ developed in conjunction with Seniors Card and the Office for the Ageing "“ aims to make the world's second-largest Fringe festival even more accessible to people of all ages.

Adelaide Fringe Director and CEO Heather Croall said the Fringe by Day guide would help festival-goers navigate the vast array of events on offer across the 31 days of Fringe.

"We want as many people as possible to experience the magic wonderland that is Adelaide Fringe, so we've created this handy guide to highlight all the fantastic Fringe events held during the day," Ms Croall said.

"We encourage people to use the guide to help make the most out of a day at Adelaide Fringe and support artists who help to transform our city into an artistic, carnival-esque playground for an entire month.

"If night time isn't your thing, this guide is perfect for you! And if you do feel like going out after dark, most of these events have evening sessions as well."

Genres highlighted in the guide include cabaret, children's events, theatre, comedy, magic, music and visual art and design.

Minister for Ageing Zoe Bettison said she was delighted that Adelaide Fringe had released a matinee guide targeted directly at people who want to participate in the festival during the daytime.

"It is important for older South Australians to remain connected to their community, and this is why the State Government is proud to support the new Fringe by Day guide," Ms Bettison said.

"It provides a great opportunity for people of all ages to get involved in Fringe and to enjoy the eclectic program on offer."

Fringe by Day guides are available at selected Adelaide visitor centres and libraries, and an online version can be accessed at adelaidefringe.com.au.

The 2017 Adelaide Fringe will run from February 17 until March 19.
