Arlecchino Battochio is a cheeky little peasant whose life ambition is to stuff his face with as much food as possible. When faced with the opportunity of a second meal by working for two masters at once, he makes the worst decision of his week - well, he makes a lot of bad decisions.
Commedia dell'arte is a high energy form of comedy, featuring physically stylised characters (both masked and unmasked), set pieces and slapstick. Emotions are big, with quick changes. It is traditionally an improvised form of theatre, and this cast embraces the challenge head on.
The script is being approached in a Commedia fashion by breaking the script down to its essentials before building it back up through workshopping and improvisation. Each actor is trained on the essential 'ingredients' of their character, and with so much calamity going on anything could happen and no two nights will be quite the same.
