Open call for art prize ellipse
The ellipse Award is an art competition established by ellipse art projects to highlight artistic creation that will focus on a different country or culture in each edition. The goal of the project is to support collective awareness about the surrounding environment using messages conveyed by artists. For its first edition of the Prize, ellipse art projects has decided to open its submissions to African artists based in Senegal. Applications are open from the 1st of April 2021 to the 15th of May 2021.

This first edition of the ellipse Prize is open to every and any visual African Artists based in Senegal and aged between 18 and 35 at application closing date (15th May 2021). Participants cannot be represented by a gallery but they can have realised collaborations with them previously.
The ellipse Prize winner's endowment will consist in a three months artistic residency at la Cité internationale des arts in Paris, including a place to live (studio) ; a presentation of their work during the AKAA (Also Know As Africa) international art fair in Paris in November 2021. The finalists will benefit from a high-visibility media campaign through every step of the competition, which will ultimately focus on the winner of the Prize.
To apply, candidates must fill in the application form on the ellipse art projects' website. Each candidate can submit only one project.
ellipse art projects is a non-profit organization to lead and support actions in favour of contemporary artistic creation. The organization was established in 2021 by the French company Ellipse Projects, which specializes in design and building projects in regions such as sub-saharan Africa and Asia. ellipse art projects aims to participate in the development and welfare of those territories' inhabitants.
Through artistic and solidarity projects, the organization aims to support artists of different origins, encourage their recognition as well as reinforce cultural diversity ; promote artists mobility to embolden cultural crossovers ; raise awareness to new artistic practices via culturally and socially positive experiences ; and strengthen the links between the cultural economy and crucial sectors for sustainable development such as education, health and equality. Indeed, as cultural ambassadors to their countries, artists contribute to the cultural, intellectual, and economic attractivity of those territories.
Artistic expressions bring people closer and emphasize the cultural pluralism. ellipse art projects wishes to conduct a genuine, respectful dialogue between cultures through art and knowledge sharing.
