Out From Down Under & Beyond: Fine Art from Australia & New Zealand

Photographers explore the unique land "“ and just as importantly, water "“ that surrounds them, obscuring and revealing different layers in turn. Surrealist painters bring out the brightest and most hallucinatory of colors in the atmosphere, and render everyday scenes beautiful in their graphic simplicity. Pure abstraction is also represented in painting, with spirited textures and haunting shadows combining in unfamiliar ways. The styles showcased flow from lush to spare; like the region it represents, the work is extraordinarily varied and always exciting. When what one group considers exotic is what another considers to be everyday, a new kind of visual language is born. Bringing these different perspectives to light and starting a dialogue with viewers is something the art world does singularly well.

Out From Down Under & Beyond opens May 20th, 2016 and runs through June 9th, 2016 with an opening reception on May 26th, from 6PM "“ 8PM. Entrance is free.
