If music is the food of love, then what better way to feed your soul and spend Valentine's Day, Sunday 14th February, 2016 by listening to the glorious sounds of THECHO!R, one of Melbourne's finest community choirs, with the award winning conductor Dr Jonathon Welch AM at the helm. You can sit back and sip champagne with your loved one in the magnificent surrounds of Fitzroy Town Hall, as you listen to many of the greatest love songs made famous by U2, Elton John, Sting, Queen, Whitney Houston, Fleetwood Mac, Leo Sayer and Rodgers & Hammerstein. Fitzroy Town Hall is a beautiful space and the audience will be seated at cabaret style tables and refreshments will be available. This setting will provide an "intimate, celebratory experience perfect for your loved one this Valentine's Day" Jonathon said.
Created in February 2009 by Dr Welch, THECHO!R is Melbourne's largest un auditioned community choirs, with up to 150 singing members. An outstanding social inclusion model, THECHO!R's membership comes from all walks of life, ranging in age from 18 to 85. Performances include a diverse range of music, from Faure's Requiem, to new Australian works (Street Requiem), Opera choruses through to 'Queen' tributes, Broadway, pop, swing and world music.
Seasons of Love marks the beginning of THECHO!R's most exciting year of performance opportunities to date, as they also take to the stages of Sydney Opera House, Hamer Hall, with the opportunity to tour to New York and Boston USA in September 2016.
In addition to aiming for the highest possible musical standards, THECHO!R members also have a wonderful commitment and passion to support other music based community projects. These have included 'Sing For A Cure' for cancer research, Social Inclusion Week, the African Children's Choir and the School of Hard Knocks provision of arts and cultural wellbeing programs.
Funds raised by this concert will support the touring activities and continued operations of THECHO!R who will be accepting new members for their exciting program of concerts for 2016.
