This year's Canterbury Art Exhibition is featuring Melbourne artist and interior designer, Sherren Comensoli, together with sell-out local artist Craig Mackie.
Comensoli's paintings reflect the Australian landscape with a contemporary translation. "Natural elements such as rocks, trees, the ocean and mountains are all my preferred subjects. I like to add multiple layers and keep building the painting up slowly until I have something that is substantial and complex" notes Sherren.
Comensoli's abstract and playful art caught the eye of contestants during last years' season of The Block. Used as a focal point in room reveals, her energetic canvases impressed the judges and has since become a favourite of many Block fans.
Conversely Mackie's paintings bring everyday locations into stark, beautiful focus, depicting the surroundings that we tend to overlook daily. Self-describing his paintings as "being in the realm of realism with brief forays into surrealism", Mackie makes the ordinary extraordinary with his keen focus on light.
Running from 4-6 May 2018, the exhibition will showcase over 500 contemporary and affordable artworks by 120 artists, a pop-up design shop with unique homewares and jewellery, and the Canvas Cafe for lunch and a coffee.
It's the perfect opportunity to purchase carefully curated art for your home, office...or mum.
