"After nearly three decades in the city, the genesis of this work was my return to my country studio on the South Coast. This grounding gave me the new freedom to explore my relationship with the rich diversity of life and immerse myself in nature and memory. ¨
Extensive travel has been a feature of my life. I carry a sketchbook to record the immediacy of new images and thoughts, a catalyst to new work. Referencing latitude and longitude holds me in place and time. My gaze turns to the unique character of each location “ soft ochres and earth hues of exposed cliff face, the vibrancy of sunlight and water. The subtle tones of misty winter light evoke spirit and loss, embracing the physical and the emotional.""¨
My excitement when travelling through Central and South America is captured in primary, vibrant and discordant colours as my senses were ignited by heat, dance, music, pulse, rhythm, passion, rich patterns, ornate decoration, romance, spirituality, all swirling in my imagination “ a rich mole' of joy!
Please keep safe and enjoy Judy's work online. For enquiries, please call the Gallery on 02 9519 9677 (daylight hours).
