Stewart says “I come from a long line of “sensitives” – we are not mediums, but we do sense strange energies, and have experienced some bizarre occurrences over the years.”

Stewart initially started telling ghost stories on a walking tour, “Foreshore Ghosts, Tales and True Crime”, in Canberra as part of a diversion for her family during the Covid-19 lock down. Family and friends encouraged her to turn the fun activity into a commercial venture which has been very successful and was featured in the 2023 Canberra Heritage Festival. Stewart found she had a gift for writing and telling stories, and in 2024, she successfully contested a place on the prestigious “The Locals” program facilitated by the Queanbeyan Theatre, NSW. As part of the program, Stewart developed her tour into an interactive theatre experience, “Tales from the other side”. The show sold out every session.

Stewart adds “I’ve been gobsmacked at the huge amount of interest in ghost stories, and the number of people who have had some very frightening experiences that they love to share. I’m really looking forward to telling my stories at the Adelaide Fringe Festival and hearing from audiences about the ghosts that live in Adelaide.”

Stewart’s long term goal is to take the show on tour to regional and remote towns in Australia, share and collect ghost stories and collate them into a podcast, documentary or book.

“Sarah is a gifted …storyteller whose work resonates strongly with her audiences. I am myself a big fan of her work!” Bec Melrose, “Gruen”, “Question everything”

“Sarah’s ability to involve the audience in the story telling makes it a truly interactive night at the theatre. One of the unique aspects of this performance is the weaving of local stories and history into the narrative…I cannot recommend Sarah and her show, Tales From the Other Side, enough”. Jordan Best, Creative Director, The Queanbeyan Performing Arts Centre
