The Carringbush Hotel welcomes Crotchety Knitwits, monthly art exhibitions, 'Fact Hunt Trivia' with RRR presenter Tristen Harris & new menu
Abbotsford's new favourite local The Carringbush Hotel, opened it's doors to the newly renovated sustainable pub back in March to rave reviews.
ts meat-free and the largely vegan menu has been a huge hit with the locals and favourites including head chef Roxanne Olsen's Halloumi & Mushroom Burger, Sweet Potato Steak, Chilli Non-Carne, Vegetable Charcuterie Plate and the Chocolate Stout Black Forest Cake.
With a huge focus on sustainability, the full wine list is on tap, there is no packaged beer, they offer eco-friendly reusable metal straws, ethical plates, environmentally friendly lighting and heating.
With winter coming The Carringbush Hotel is excited to announce the arrival of their new seasonal menu launching Friday 3 May introducing a Pie and Mash served with mushy peas, Buffalo Cauliflower Fries with slaw, a rotating Soup of the week, Chorizo and Feta lentils, Spiced Eggplant with rice and for dessert homemade Apple Crumble served with whipped cream.
To accompany the new food editions The Carringbush will play host to monthly art exhibitions supporting local artists, plus craft group the Crotchety Knitwits aka Brigette Cameron and Meg Butler, and last but not least 'Fact Hunt Trivia' hosted by RRR's Tristen Harris.
Wednesday 8 May welcomes two of Melbourne's most adored sisters Lucy & Julia Waldron, who will line The Carringbush Hotel walls with their collection of artworks with an opening night celebration commencing from 7pm.
Lucy, a prominent hankpoke tattoo artist, works at Hidden Moon Tattoo in the Melbourne CBD and creates intricate illustrations using a multitude of dots. In her spare time, Lucy can be found making music with Thomy Sloane. Julia, the youngest sister of the family has a Bachelor in Zoology and draws upon this in her art by creating dot illustrations with a focus on skulls, plants and animals.
Commencing Monday 3 June at 6pm, keen crafters and good friends Brigette Cameron and Meg Butler launch the Crotchety Knitwits at its new home The Carringbush Hotel. Having started in 2008 at The Old Bar in Fitzroy through their love for knitting and crochet, Brigette and Meg are crafters and live music fans with an interest in building community through unexpected acts of artmaking.
"The idea to start a knitting and crochet night in a pub was sparked one night at The Old Bar while drinking beer and watching bands. Eleven years later, and we are still at the pub, only now we're taking a leap to a new venue. We are excited about being part of The Carringbush's vision for sustainability, eating delicious food, tasting new beers and not one, but two open fires to craft in front of." - Crotchety Knitwits
Crotchety Knitwits will be crafting every Monday through winter, with all ages welcome. You can bring your own knitting, needles and wool, or The Knitwits will have backup supplies at the pub if you don't have your own or forget to bring your own. Friendly experts will be on hand to help beginner crafters or to encourage more experienced people to try something new. Unwind with The Crotchety Knitwits on Monday nights!
The third Tuesday of every month at the very adult time of 8-10pm The Carringbush entertains its diners and drinkers with 'Fact Hunt Trivia'. Hosted by Tristen Harris; RRR presenter, ex-video/record shop wanker, professional idiot, this is a comfortably dumb trivia for music fans and couch potatoes - that's right, just TV, Movie and Music trivia... No sport, no politics, no geography and no world news! Tristen Harris promises just the fun stuff with listening rounds, puzzle sheets, throwing paper planes, drawing willies and of course prizes galore!
