Monique Montfroy is a practicing documentary photographer who frequents Miami Marketta to capture community shots of our guests and atmosphere for The Weekend Edition. Through her personal photography she aims to produce work that opens important dialogues, not just in the community but around the world, to shed a light on concepts and issues not commonly spoken about in mainstream media.
She's only young but already has a Bachelor of Digital Media, majoring in Photo Media, was awarded a scholarship by the Association of Australian Decorative and Fine Arts Societies to complete her Honours in 2015, and also exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra as a finalist in the 2015 National Photographic Portrait Prize.
We are super excited that Monique will be bringing us an exhibition of images from an internship she completed with world-renowned war documentary photographer Jack Picone in Bangkok, Thailand. This raw imagery aims to show us, the audience, a day in the life of the people living in that area.
