Sydney, Australia: The fourth Sydney edition of The Other Art Fair (TOAF) presented by Saatchi Art the world's leading online art gallery is just two weeks away returning on 22"“25 March to the Australian Technology Park (ATP) in Eveleigh. The Fair has announced its 100+ line-up of emerging and independent Australian and international artists alongside engaging art education programs and interactive opportunities for attendees.
Continued partnerships with the National Art School (NAS) and the Australian Film Radio and Television School strengthen The Other Art Fair's unique approach to supporting and championing emerging talent. "The Other Art Fair is ultimately about giving emerging artists the platform to explore and experiment within a safe and inclusive environment. Artists are given the opportunity to build on their careers in a real world setting - we're very motivated to see our artists succeed," said The Other Art Fair Sydney Fair Director Zoe Paulsen.
The National Art School (NAS) will present a stand that showcases the depth and diversity of art making at the School, featuring eight accomplished artists across its core teaching disciplines of painting, sculpture, ceramics, photomedia, printmaking and drawing. Additionally, the National Art School Director and CEO Steven Alderton is presenting a curatorial space of recent National Art School graduates and artists from the APY Art Centre Collective - a group of 10 Indigenous owned and governed enterprises, Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY), located in remote central Australia in the far northern tip of South Australia. The curatorial space will feature progressive emerging artists from across two of Australia's centres of creative practice - the APY Lands in central Australia and Sydney. Lastly, National Art School Creative Producer Sebastian Goldspink will be moderating two conversations as part of The Fair's talks program - how to start an art collection, and a spotlight on artists who began their careers later in life.
The Australian Film Radio and Television School will further bolster The Other Art Fair's commitment to emerging art practitioners with the creation of its Red Room Cinema' showcasing the exceptional film and video works of past and current students.
The Fair will offer further educational opportunities with the new Artist Studio' live demonstrations presented by Pigment Lab with appearances by guest artists Scott Marsh and Luke Cornish, aka E.L.K. Free art tours with international Saatchi Art curators provides insight into identifying key Fair works with investment or collector potential, and interactive artworks by artist Liam Herne offers buyers and fair attendees a diverse range of art to explore. As well as this, the Sculpture Garden presented by Ovolo, focuses on the theme of lost in nature, with artists interpreting the relationship between the natural world and the environment. Working with artists selected by Ovolo Art Curator, Lisa Fehily, the Sculpture Garden presents the artists' varied ways to consider and interpret contemporary society and its relationship to the world.
"Engaging a range of emerging artists who work with a variety of materials and mediums in bringing this concept to life, is truly inspiring," says Lisa Fehily.
"Their ability to merge old with new, reimagine landscapes, and alternate fictional worlds, engages and challenges audiences to understand how they view nature in modern society, and the affect they are having on it. For Ovolo to be a part of The Other Art Fair and showcase works from emerging artists such as Arnie Arnold and Anya Pesce, is an honour and we cannot wait to share it with Sydney."
The Other Art Fair will launch as part of the highly anticipated Art Month Sydney 2018 program with the opening night on Thursday 22 March, 6-10pm as the official after party offering attendees of the Art Month precincts complimentary entry and a drink on arrival. The Other Art Fair continues to build momentum following the highly successful 2015, 2016 and 2017 Sydney events, each of which attracted more than 10,000 visitors over four days. Each of the 100+ artists participating at the Fair will also be featured on Saatchi Art, the world's leading online art gallery, representing a global network of artists and connecting them with art buyers worldwide.
"With a shared mission of identifying and supporting emerging artists from all over the world, Saatchi Art and The Other Art Fair are natural partners," said Saatchi Art Chief Curator Rebecca Wilson.
