The State Opera of South Australia presents The Merry Widow
State Opera will present one of the most beloved operettas of all time at the Adelaide Festival Theatre later this month. Graeme Murphy's stunning new production, set against the lush and glittering backdrop of art-deco Paris, will bewitch audiences for five performances only, from November 29.

The State Opera of South Australia will present one of the most successful operettas ever written The Merry Widow at the Adelaide Festival Theatre from November 29 to December 6.
Offering an imaginative take on a popular classic, this light-hearted, glittery retelling will delight audiences for just five performances.
Based on the original operetta written by Franz Lehar, this acclaimed English retelling has been presented nationally with immense popularity.
The story tells of wealthy widow Hanna, an inadvertent heiress of a city's fortune after just eight days of marriage. Fearing the loss of their riches, members of the society set' are determined that she must wed a local "“ and soon, before any foreigner catches her gaze. However, she has history with the man they have in mind, and to complicate matters, the widow isn't the only one turning heads.
Directed and choreographed by the internationally renowned and award-winning Graeme Murphy.
Conducted by Wyn Davies, the cast features some of Australia's most popular stage performers including Antoinette Halloran as Hanna and Alexander Lewis as Count Danilo Danilovich. An exciting array of South Australian artists also feature in the production and include local favourite Desiree Frahn as Valencienne.
