News is a Fluid Concept
The Sum Times aims to stay away from the usual rhetoric of journalistic reporting and open up space for a more imaginative kind of journalism. Among other things, they do not distinguish between the categories 'fiction' and 'nonfiction' in their presentation of news. The first issue reports on local and global matters: Business Australia in the lead-up to the shareholder's say, a case of Brunswick heartbreak, news from the reef, dim sims, self-help, sport poems, merkins and much much more.
The Sum Times know that many newspapers out there have a lot to offer but they sum times have us wondering, what is the point of reading the news again? Not only HARD FACTS, but many different types of expression (writing, art etc) are newsworthy materials.
The Sum Times goes to print every 6 weeks and you can subscribe or buy single copies via the website.
