State Opera will present one of the most beloved operettas of all time at the Adelaide Festival Theatre later this month. Graeme Murphy's stunning new production, set against the lush and glittering backdrop of art-deco Paris, will bewitch audiences for five performances only, from November 29.
Twenty-four hours long, the already-iconic installation is created from thousands of film and television images of clocks, watches, or other references to time. These are masterfully edited together so that they flow in real time, perfectly synced to the present moment, in one mesmerising collage. The result is an epic and seductive journey through cinematic history as well as a functioning timepiece. Zadie Smith calls it, "maybe the greatest film you've ever seen".
