Coolbellup and Nollamara Primary Schools got the chance to see their own creative works on display at the AWESOME International Arts Festival for Bright Young Things last week in Perth. The Creative Challenge program took place in the schools during term 3 with the festival outcome being delivered as part of the 22nd annual AWESOME Festival from 28 Sept to 12 Oct. Students were invited to participate in the excursion program in the first week of term 4 to view their work at the festival thanks to the Crown Resorts and Packer Family Foundations.

East Kalgoorlie Primary School students had the opportunity to work with professional artists Hannan Jones and April Phillips earlier this year in the AWESOME Arts Creative Challenge program. Private Leslie Robins' poignant words formed the inspiration for his great-great-nephew Andrew Harrison to compose an extraordinary contemporary classical work, If Not In This World, to be premiered at two major concerts of the same name. If Not In This World, along with another new work by Bendigo-based composer Rohan Phillips, Meditations on der Krieg, will be performed by the acclaimed Arcko Symphonic Ensemble in two powerful and emotionally-charged concerts in Bendigo on Saturday 10 November and the following day in Melbourne on Sunday 11 November, the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day.

Gascoyne Junction School had selected photos from their Creative Challenge residency program displayed at the AWESOME Arts Festival from September 28 through to October 12. The photo display was featured on site in the Perth Cultural Centre and highlighted the students work as part of the annual Creative Challenge Program presented in partnership with Healthway promoting the Go for 2 & 5 health message. Students from the Gascoyne Junction School created their own musical instruments with artists in residence Peter and Cecile Williams.
