Kennedy Prize 2023 Winner Tells the Story of Refugee Mostafa ‘Moz’ Azimitabar

Indian Australian visual artist Sid Pattni has been awarded the 2023 Kennedy Prize with a thought-provoking portrait of Kurdish refugee, Mostafa ‘Moz’ Azimitabar, who fled war and was held in detention at Manus Island for over six years. The celebrated national visual arts competition, which called for entries under the theme of ‘Beauty’, has attracted a record-breaking number of entries this year from Australia’s finest visual artists for the $25,000 prize. West Australian based artist Sid Pattni created the award-winning portrait - entitled Portrait of Moz - using oil, synthetic polymer, and cotton thread on canvas for his first solo exhibition The Story of Us, which explores the stories of refugees and asylum seeker communities in Australia. @kennedyartfoundation

Garrett will take to stages in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Auckland as part of his globally acclaimed ICONIC tour which has sold out concerts in more than 30 cities across eight countries. MYRIAD EXHIBITION TO CELEBRATE ART AND DISABILITY ON GRAND SCALE

South Australia’s biggest display of artwork by people living with disability will feature as part of the 2023 Myriad Art Exhibition as a headline attraction in this month’s South Australian Living Artists (SALA) Festival. The respected exhibition, now in its fifth year is presented by not-for-profit disability support organisation Community Living Australia in partnership with the State Library of South Australia and will run from 17-31 August 2023 in the State Library Institute Building. The 2023 exhibition will feature a record-breaking 68 South Australian artists,10 feature artists and 120 artworks and celebrate a ‘myriad’ of artists, abilities, cultures and stories.

FINAL CALLOUT FOR NEW KENNEDY PRIZE PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD

Kennedy Prize judges are calling for final submissions for the prestigious Nyland Prize, a new photography award that is named after the Honourable Justice and Kennedy Foundation committee member, Margaret Nyland. Entries for the inaugural award will close on August 25 and honour one of Australia’s finest photographers with a $5,000 prize in a new addition to the 2023 Kennedy Prize. The Nyland Prize is open to photographers nationally to submit entries under the theme of ‘Beauty’. Emerging photographers are encouraged to enter. A non-refundable $20 fee applies to each entrant.
